A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in central Bakersfield Tuesday night, according to Bakersfield Police.
The collision happened around 11:30 p.m. on Oak Street and Palm Street.
Bakersfield Police say the victim suffered major injuries.
The north and southbound lanes of Oak and Chester Lane and the north and southbound lanes of Oak Street and Palm Street were shut down for some time in both directions.
Police say the driver of the car remained on scene and was cooperative with investigators. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played a role in the crash.
The woman is currently in critical condition at a nearby hospital.
The crash is being investigated.
