16-year-old killed, 17-year-old driver facing DUI, vehicular manslaughter charges

UPDATE (1/16/18 8:11 a.m.) According to Centennial High School Basketball's Facebook page, they have identified the 16-year-old who was killed as Clayton Boen.

UPDATE (12:45 p.m.) According to Bakersfield Police, they have told 23ABC that the passenger who died was 16-years-old not 15-years-old.

The 16-year-old was a student at Centennial High School and played football at the school.

BPD says three teens in the car, the driver was 17-years-old, the passenger who died was 16-years-old and the passenger in the backseat was 16-years-old.

The driver and the backseat passenger were both drinking.

BPD says the teens where headed back to the backseat passengers house.

UPDATE (4:45 a.m.): According to Bakersfield Police, the passenger in the car was sitting improperly "with his torso extending out of the open window" and was ejected during a turn. The passenger, who BPD says was 15 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not yet been identified. 

BPD says the driver, a 17 year old, was under the influence. 

He now faces vehicular manslaughter, DUI and other charges. He's been booked into juvenile hall. He has not yet been identified.

UPDATE (3:59 a.m.): Bakersfield Police say at least one person was killed in Sunday night's crash on Renfro Road and Madison Michelle Way.

The Bakersfield Police Department is on scene of a major injury crash in Northwest Bakersfield. 

It happened Sunday night before midnight at Madison Michelle Way and Renfro Road. 

BPD says Renfro Road is being shut down at Stockdale Highway. 

We have limited details at this time, but we have a news crew heading to the scene and we will bring you the latest as soon as we get more information.
