Morning Update: On Wednesday morning, Aug. 7, aftershocks are still being reported by the U.S. Geological Survey. The latest aftershock was 3.4 magnitude northwest of Grapevine just after 7:00 a.m.

Officials have not yet reported any major damage, but they're asking residents to report any damage they may see.

Earthquake Rattles Home in Bakersfield

A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck 14 miles southwest of Lamont around 9:10 Tuesday evening.

The quake was initially report by USGS to 5.3 magnitude before being reassessed.

Shaking was felt throughout Kern, and a USGS ShakeAlert was issued.

The earthquake was strong enough to dislodge boulders in parts of Kern County.

CHP is reporting boulders down in the southbound lines of I-5 through the Grapevine, as well as boulders in the eastbound lanes of Highway 166 south of Maricopa.

Since the first quake there have been multiple aftershocks, the strongest being a 4.5 magnitude quake just about one minute after the first quake.
