The podcast takes listeners into the Mojave Desert to understand the complicated history of the town where, for decades, local real estate developers have sold a dream – you buy land now, you’ll be rich one day. Thousands of people, from young couples to hard-working immigrants, bought into this dream only to find out the land is worthless.
Emily has been working on this project for several years after she stumbled upon it in 2016 while reporting on the drought.
