PG&E warm weather money and energy saving tips

Kern County is bringing the heat this week. Tuesday marked the beginning of several 100 plus degree days and with that the inevitable search to stay cool without going broke. But it's not only today that we are expecting to hit triple-digit heat. Multiple days this week are being forecasted to be over 100.

With heat rising and people continuing to stay indoors due to the coronavirus your energy bill may be higher than usual. PG&E is sharing warm weather tips to help you save money during these warm months.

According to PG&E your air conditioning accounts for more than 40-percent of summer residential energy use and setting the thermostat at 78 degrees is the most optimal.

It also might be time to check those air filters. PG&E says your air conditioner has to work harder to circulate air if your filter is old and dirty.

Finally. while natural sunlight may be great during quarantine remembering to shade the windows which makes it easier for your home to cool.
