BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Aqua-Nut, a local non-profit organization, empowers local veterans to tackle their disabilities through scuba diving.
This weekend, the group will hold its annual fundraiser 'Try Scuba in a Pool' raising money for local veterans so they can take part in scuba diving training. Aqua-Nut says that scuba diving training can help veterans working through PTSD or other disabilities.
The normal cost of an open water scuba class (basic) is approximately $1200.00 to $1500.00. This includes equipment, books, instructor fees, hotel and more. However, Aqua-nuts has been able to negotiate special prices and are able to get the cost down to approximately $700.00 per veteran.
