TAFT, Calif. — The City of Taft is expected to declare a local emergency during its city council meeting on Tuesday. That's according to the city council agenda.
According to the agenda, the city manager, acting as the Director of Emergency Services, is expected to request the Taft City Council to proclaim the existence of a local emergency. "Due to the impacts of the novel coronavirus, known as COVID-19, this resolution is being brought to Council with the recommendation of adoption," the agenda said.
The Taft City Council agenda said that the City of Taft has partnered with the local health care district and other local agencies to take measures to protect its population against the spread of COVID-19. "The City of Taft realizes the financial impacts this crisis will have on the west side community and will diligently work to secure eligible funding and cost recovery for the community during this time," the agenda said.
The declaration is set to go before the city council at its meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
