DELANO, Calif. — Why send chocolates when you can send tacos?
That's the thinking behind Janitzio Restaurant's heart-shaped taco boxes. The Valentines Day offer is back this year and you can start placing orders now up to Feb. 13.
Each box comes with five tacos and a 12-ounce soda while the Valentine’s Taco Tray is $22 and comes with 12 tacos and two sodas.
Delivering is only available in Delano and costs an additional $3 per delivery.
Shanty Andrade, who prepares the taco boxes, said she stops taking orders on Feb. 13 because that's when she starting preparing. Anything that can be made ahead of time, like salsa, is put together the night before. But to keep the tacos fresh and warm when they're delivered, Andrade said every order is not made until about 30 minutes before the delivery.
Due to last year's large turnout, Andrade said she will have additional workers that day. That's because while they work to fill all the orders for taco boxes, the restaurant, located on Cecil Avenue, stays open.
