DELANO, Calif. — JCPenney has announced another list of store closings and the Delano location is on it.
JC Penney has been permanently closing stores as part of a restructuring under bankruptcy protection. On Thursday it released a list of 154 stores it plans to close this summer, with store closing sales kicking off June 12.
Among the stores on the list is the location in Delano on Main Street. Other stores in California slated to close include locations in Chino, Los Banos, Paso Robles, San Bernardino, Tracy, Turlock, and Yreka.
The company has been hemorrhaging locations in recent years as shifts in consumer habits have led customers away from legacy retailers such as JCPenney. Stores closing due to the COVID-19 have hastened the demise for companies like JCPenney.
The loss of 154 locations will reduce the company’s footprint down from 850 stores nationwide. The 154 locations are spread over 38 states.
