Walmart's new baby registry asks parents personal questions to help choose items

Posted

Walmart has a new employee named Hoo the Owl — a chatbot on its digital baby registry that asks parents questions to help figure out items they may want.

The personalization feature will inquire about the due date, baby's gender, location, nursery theme and more. It will even delve into sustainability preferences and whether parents prefer organic options.

Parents who need some help picking a theme will have some options to look at in the registry. That includes woodland, modern options for baby boys and baby girls and a gender-neutral option. There are also boho chic and modern grey options in the registry.

Parents may use their mobile phones to complete their registries with Walmart.

"To make sure parents can find everything they need, we’ve added thousands of new items to Walmart.com over the past year, including products from BOB, Jujube, nanobébé, Owlet and Hello Bello . We’ve also added new brands like Chicco, Monbébé, Britax and the Halo Bassinest, to our in-store experience in more than 2,000 stores which gives customers the chance to test out key baby items in-store. And, if customers want to add items to their registries while in-store, they can do so using the Walmart App," states Walmart's news release.
