BAKERSFILED, Calif. — Happy Thanksgiving from Simply Sweet Allison. We share some Thanksgiving favorites on this week's episode!
First, we go to Temblor Brewing Company to try their all-in-one Thanksgiving sandwich that not only tastes good, but also gives back to the community. This sandwich is served in a toasted ciabatta bun, then layered with hand-carved turkey, chunky stuffing, homemade creamy gravy and sweet and tart cranberry sauce. This dish is served with sweet potato fries and your favorite beer. All proceeds from this sandwich will be given back to the Bakersfield Homeless Center, so everyone can have a warm Thanksgiving meal this holiday. Next, Allison Gargaro makes dessert! This year we wanted to combine a few sweet treat favorites... pecan pie and brownies. Allison makes gooey brownies that are topped with crispy and caramelized pecans. This dish is going to make your family want to come back for seconds. You can find the pecan pie brownie recipe here.
Lastly, we try a BBQ restaurant in downtown Bakersfield called Angry Barnyard BBQ. They have a unique smoking technique on the meats, using almond wood. Their meats, three different types of sausage, ribs, tri-tip, roasted turkey and more is smoked on their smoker out back 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Not only are their meats creating lines out the door each and every day, people also come for this southern style sides. They have fried okra, corn bread, homemade pimento cheese and pickles, and a specialty beignets. They are located at 916 18th St.
