So far this year, the CDC is reporting 940 confirmed cases of measles in 26 states.
As of May 22, the California Department of Health says there has been 47 total cases in the state. The total includes 11 people under the age of 18 and 36 adult cases.
Health officials say the United States is very close to surpassing 1994's outbreak. Back then, the country was hit with 963 confirmed cases of the measles.
