BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — After Grad Night was canceled then rescheduled, the annual celebration has been scrapped for the second time this year at North High.
Principal Mark Balch, tells 23ABC that there wasn't enough students interested in a last minute decision to plan the school's grad night at Six Flags- Magic Mountain. He says they needed 40 students to sign up for the trip to happen but only seven were able to submit their payment by Friday.
The second cancellation comes after 23ABC reached out to Balch in regards to a parent who was upset about the school's initial plans to call off grad night at Disneyland. Balch says that in the past very few students have showed interest in participating in the traditional event.
Balch did confirm that the seven students who paid to go to Six Flags have been contacted and will receive their refunds.
The school says it will revisit the idea of Grad Night for next year and may suggest a different venue if affordability is a factor.
