KHSD to reconvene regarding reopening of schools

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern High School District has been discussing when parents can expect to send their high schoolers back to school in the fall.

During Monday's 3-hour long school board meeting the district board of trustees listened to presentations given by the district's instruction division. This group was tasked to report their findings and options to the board on different ways for students to attend class within the kern high school district.

When the board asked the instruction division team if they believe the district could be ready to allow schools back in session come the fall the team said they would be ready no matter what but to ensure parents, staff and students they are not going to compromise their safety.

Discussions surrounding face coverings requirements was tabled at Monday night's meeting.

As for now, the school district has not made a definitive decision for high schoolers.

The board did state they will have a special session after teacher and stakeholder input. That meeting is said to take place next week.
