High school students will get the chance to compete in a series of mock trials this weekend.

Saturday morning students will participate as prosecution attorneys, defense attorneys, defendants and witnesses in a simulated case developed by the Constitutional Rights Foundation. This annual event helps students acquire skills in public speaking, critical analysis, and deduction.

The competition begins at 9 a.m. Saturday morning at the Kern County Superior Courts. And for the winning teams, an awards ceremony will be held later in the day at East Bakersfield High School.
