The Fruitvale School District held a meeting and made its decision to start the school year with distance learning.

During the meeting on Tuesday the board went over specifics for each learning model and the new guidance from the Governor for reopening of schools. That guidance says schools can't reopen unless the county has been off the monitoring list for 14 days.

The Board also brought up concerns about possibly changing to a hybrid later, and being able to train teachers in enough time.

So Board members put in a motion about how to shift to a hybrid model, which was approved.

A Board member said, "I move that once we are of the 14-day list, we give our staff two weeks, an additional two weeks. No. 1, so we don't pop back up on the list, and No. 2, to put all the things in place that we need to go back to hybrid learning."

The school year for Fruitvale School District is set to start on August 19th.
