BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield City School District is taking their students to visit the Chevron Kern River oilfields Wednesday. Nearly 70 middle school students representing eight schools will go on this trip.
The event is for an interactive career exploration day with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and math. Chevron energy professionals have planned an educational outreach day to inspire youth to learn about the STEM career paths available.
The students participating in the career exploration day are enrolled in an engineering program.
The program Project Lead the Way provides a rigorous project-based STEM curriculum to thousands of students throughout Kern County.
