BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Dolores S. Whitley Elementary School will be home to a new garden, thanks to a local Girl Scout troop.
The girls raised enough funds to plant trees at the school to make sure students have shade when they're outside.
Each participating scout will receive a bronze award for the project and a plaque with their name and favorite quote on each tree that's planted.
Whitley Elementary has only been around for a year, and the principal says this project will make all the difference.
"These girls put time and energy to make Whitley beautiful for the years to come," Lisa Beasly, the principal of Whitley Elementary School, said.
