BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Historic Bakersfield Fox Theater turned into La La Land this past Friday night, with soulful sounds of Jazz filling the theater as Jay Smith Group and Marlon Mackey took the stage.
From jazz fusion to pop, Jay Smith Group has channeled a wide spectrum of musical genres to stay working and relevant. Marlon Mackey's use of live-looping vocals, as well as his skill as a singer, turns his shows into his own kind of midnight revival.
