If you’re planning on giving a heart-shaped box of chocolates or a bouquet of roses to your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day, we’re sorry to break it to you, but that’s just not going to cut it. Sure, these might be the usual go-to gifts for the holiday, but this is 2022 — and things have changed.
These days, you can buy all sorts of chocolate creations — even chocolate video game controllers. And when it comes to flowers? Don’t even bother because you can now give romantic food arrangements — including bouquets of pickles!
The pickle bouquet comes from Boston-based pickle company Grillo’s Pickles. While you will have to put the bouquet together yourself, you can buy a kit online for $20 that comes with a Grillo’s “free jar” coupon, 15 wooden skewers, a card and cardholder, tissue paper and filler, custom Valentine’s Day label for a 32-ounce Grillo’s container and more.
“We’ve always had fun involving pickles around all types of holidays and we felt pickles needed a little more love during Valentine’s Day,” said Travis Grillo, CEO and founder of Grillo’s Pickles. “Not only is a pickle bouquet more beautiful than a dozen red roses, and healthier than a standard box of chocolate, it’s also far more creative.”
In addition to pickles, Grillo’s Pickles also includes some extras in the bouquet — like garlic and dill — to represent the company’s 100-year-old family recipe of using just seven ingredients. You can even customize the bouquet to your valentine’s preferences by adding extras like cherry tomatoes and cheese cubes.
Here’s the Grillo’s Facebook post from 2021 when the DIY pickle bouquet kit was offered once again:
If you’d rather give a bouquet of edible items that aren’t pickles, there are plenty of other clustered goodies you can gift your loved ones this holiday. How about a bouquet of chicken nuggets or a bouquet of Reese’s candies? Or you can always send a literal handful of baked goods with a bouquet of doughnuts from Harry & David.
Will you be sending an edible bouquet this Valentine’s Day?
