BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — It was early this month that Wreaths Across America put out the call for sponsors to help them reach their goal of 5,200 wreaths to lay at the Bakersfield National Cemetery. Last week, organizers made a plea, saying they were still more that 2,000 wreaths short.
Thanks to community support, Wreaths Across America not only has enough wreaths to lay at every headstone at the cemetery, the exceeded their goal by 27.
The Bakersfield Patriot Guard Riders will escort the wreaths truck from the Harley Davidson shop on 7th Standard Rd. to the national cemetery.
This year, National Wreaths Across America Day is Saturday, December 14, 2019.
The local ceremony at Bakersfield National Cemetery will begin at 9 a.m. It is always a free event and open to all people.
