AERIAL ACRES, Calif. — The world's largest "post-apocalyptic" music and arts festival may be coming to Kern County.
According to the Board of Supervisors' agenda for Tuesday's meeting, Wasteland World Incorporated is requesting supplemental law enforcement services for the 2019 Wasteland Weekend event. The event is set to take place from September 25th to the 29th at Aerial Acres just outside of California City.
Wasteland Weekend describes itself as "Unlike most other desert parties, car shows, or music concerts (and Wasteland is all three), this one requires ALL attendees to be in costume (even staff members and journalists). The idea is to create a full-immersion effect, making festival goers feel like they’re inside a Mad Max-style movie for 5 days."
The Mad Max-themed festival is already sold out for this year. However, organizers are offering a last chance "flash sale" of tickets that were returned this Friday, September 20th at 9 a.m.
