Children living in poverty begin their lives with a host of disadvantages, including poor literacy skills. This year, the coronavirus pandemic is compounding the problem.

Now, families who never needed help before are facing unprecedented hardships -- trouble putting food on the table and paying rent and with even less money to spend on books.

The Scripps Howard Foundation is “Giving light. Changing lives” for children in need nationwide through its “If You Give a Child a Book … ” campaign.

For the past four years, Scripps employees have generously donated to the Scripps Howard Foundation’s “If You Give a Child a Book” campaign and put more than 352,000 books into the hands of children in need.

Please join us in our mission to empower children in need with the literacy tools they need to be successful in school and in life by donating to our “If You Give a Child a Book … ” campaign.

The campaign runs from Aug. 10 to 28.
