Mural to be unveiled in honor of slain 13-year-old Bakersfield girl, Patricia Alatorre

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — On Monday, Thee Next Steps, a nonprofit organization in Bakersfield is hosting the unveiling of a mural honoring Patricia Alatorre, the 13-year-old Bakersfield girl who was killed on July 2nd.

The unveiling is located at 1300 19th St. the unveiling will start at 5:30 p.m. It will be one of many events honoring Patricia's memory..

Previously, a vigil was held for her July 6th, with dozens of people attending to honor her memory.

"She was always laughing. She was always joking around. She always had a smile on her face, if you were having a bad day she would make you feel better," said Deila Estrella, a friend of Patricia.

At the unveiling, residents are encouraged to practice social distancing and wear masks.

Out of respect for the family, Bakersfield residents that do go by the mural are asked not to take pictures or videos until the unveiling of the mural on Monday.
