BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The MLK CommUnity Inititative will hold a free food distribution for those in need from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at 1116 E. California Ave.
The MLK CommUnity Initiative usually holds this food distribution on a monthly basis and is typically held at Belle Terrace Park however, in light of the recent outbreak of the COVID-19 virus the organizers have decided to change the location of the distribution to allow for greater health precautions to be made.
In accordance with policies set forth by the CDC, Gov. Newsom and President Trump, there will be a drive-thru for those wishing to receive food. Individuals are asked to stay in their vehicles and a volunteer will bring a box of food to their car.
If an individual does not have access to a vehicle, they are still allowed to walk up and stand in line.
Instructions are as follows:
- Arrive early.
- Drive up to receive your food, do not get out or your car, a volunteer will come to you.
- Once you have received your box of food, please keep moving, do not hold up traffic.
- If you are a walk up, please consider the social distance of six feet apart while in line.
