BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Public Works Department will be hosting its annual Fall Bulky Waste Collection Event on Nov. 7, from 8 a.m. to noon, offering Kern County residents the opportunity to get rid of their residential bulky waste for free.
There are three locations that will be accepting residential bulky waste.
- Meadows Field International Terminal, 1401 Skyway Drive, Off Airport Drive and Skyway Drive
- Kern Medical, 1700 Mt. Vernon Avenue, in the Flower Street parking lot
- Kern County Fairgrounds, 1142 South P Street Parking Lot, Northwest corner
Items not accepted include construction waste, demolition and remodeling waste, tires, household trash, green waste, hazardous waste, and commercial waste.
Eligible items can only be dropped off during the designated day and time.
Tarp or secure your load prior to transporting your bulky waste to one of these locations.
Items eligible for free pick up are household appliances such as refrigerators and water heaters, mattresses, furniture, electronics, and other large household items.
All items will be accepted at no charge, additionally, Salvation Army and Goodwill will also be available to accept donations of items that can be reused.
Residents in the unincorporated Metro-Bakersfield area are also able to schedule a curbside bulky waste pickup for up to two items per month by calling (661) 322-6863.
