BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office announced it will be holding another academy to train deputy sheriff recruits in 2020. The September academy will be primarily filled with students, but also some trainees.

Students pay their way through the six-month POST Academy at an approximate cost of $3,000. Many of those students will have the opportunity to be hired by KCSO as a lateral deputy sheriff. However, graduates will also be able to apply to other law enforcement agencies with their POST Certification. Trainees that are hired will be paid through the academy.

KCSO has testing dates for the Pellet B; please see attachment. That is the first step in being accepted into the Academy.

Those who are interested should email the Regional Training Center at rtc@kernsheriff.org to RSVP a seat at testing.
KCSO is also hiring Deputy Sheriff Trainees. You can apply here.
