BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Prepare to dawn your finest swash-buckling attire this weekend for the inaugural Pirates of the Cure-i-bbean Booty Run.
The event kicks off Saturday at the Park at Riverwalk with 5K and 2K runs. All are welcome and participants will receive a pirate medallion, a shirt, and a chance to win the pirate treasure chest. Runners are encouraged to "dress in your best pirate garb and run for the booty." There will also be a pirate costume contest.
Plus the event is for a good cause. All of the proceeds go to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Registration costs $40. Kids 9 and under can register for $25s. Walkers and strollers welcome.
Packet pickup will start at 6 a.m. and the run kicks off Saturday morning at 7 a.m.
