BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — It's National Homeless Youth Awareness Month and this year, you can help keep local homeless youth stay warm during winter.
The Greater Bakersfield Legal Assistanceand Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK) are holding their second annual sleeping bag drive. Last year they were able to collect 120 new or gently used sleeping bags for local children in need. This year they are aiming for 200.
The organization not only collects the sleeping bags but also gives hygiene kits to each of the children.
Organizers say sleeping bag donations can be dropped off at Kern Bridges Youth Homes located at 1221 Stine Road from Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or at Kaiser Permanente Farmer's Markets on Saturdays and Sundays.
The deadline to donate is December 13th. For more information, visit Kern County Homeless Collaborative.
