"Hello Bakersfield" podcast hosts share why they started the story telling podcast and why it is focuses on the city of Bakersfield.
Andrae Gonzales, Rachel Magnus, Jesus Gonzalex and Carla Barrientos are the hosts of "Hello Bakersfield" and head the podcast's exploration of dynamic people, places and the culture of our community.
They explore the lesser known, parts and gems of the growing city. They said because it is becoming more diverse and experiencing a cultural shift they wanted to include more people in the community while honoring its rich history and traditions.
The team of hosts will interview new people once a week. Having candid conversations with these people their priority it to get to know the people behind their positions and what they do for this community. Through the process they try to find out what makes these people from all walks of life passionate, finding it can be anything from artistry to business.
Candid discussion leads to talk of hobbies and interests, but also difficult times and challenges in life. Host Andrae Gonzales said, "I think what we try to do is be very real about our community, talk about things we love and the things we struggle with, and I think that resonates with a lot of our listeners." In answering how they think the community has responded to the podcast they said they have found it to be "overwhelmingly positive".
