Kern County continues to celebrate Black History Month. Thursday night California State University Bakersfield hosted its annual Gospel Fest that unites the local spiritual community at the university's Icardo Center.
The annual festival featured choirs, dance groups, and soloists from seven different local churches.
The event's coordinator said gospel music is a big part of the African-American community and is important for Black History Month.
