BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Boys & Girls club of Kern County is hosting a summer theater program for kids and teens to put their acting skills to the test.
The program is open to youth ages 5 to 19. The stage door academy will have three different sessions.
Each workshop will have 150 children and teens mentored by educators in dance, singing, acting and stage blocking. By the end, they will produce a full summer musical.
The summer musicals they will be working on include:
Disney’s The Little Mermaid JR.
- Ages 5-18
- Rehearsals Monday through Friday 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
- June 1 - June 27

Getting to Know … Footloose
- Ages 12-19
- Rehearsals Monday through Thursday 1-4 p.m.
- June 8 - July 11
