BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Today, you have the chance to fill up the fire helmets of city and county firefighters at the Heroes and Helmets Fundraiser.

Since the fundraiser began in 2010, over $600,000 has been raised and 80 wishes granted to children battling a critical illness.

If you would like to help out, the donation drive is Friday, from 7:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Firefighters will have their helmets out at the three following locations across Bakersfield:

  • Rosedale Highway and Mohawk Street
  • Olice and Knudsen Drive
  • 22nd and L Street

There is also a drive-thru lunch for $10 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., at the 22nd and L street location, and the funds raised from the lunch will benefit the foundation.

All funds raised will stay here in Kern County.
