BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — On Saturday, ASM Bakersfield, Aramark, and Keep Bakersfield Beautiful will host Bakersfield Recycles Day. This will be a drive-through no-contact event.

Community partners for the event include Alianza Recycling and Recovery, Metropolitan Recycling, The Salvation Army, and Metro Record Storage and Shredding.

Masks and social distancing are required for all participants.

Residents of Bakersfield and greater Kern County are encouraged to drop off the following recyclable materials to the South Parking Lot of Mechanics Bank Arena on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon:
◼ Electronic items (E-waste)
◼ Large and small household items, including mattresses
◼ Passenger vehicle tires (Kern County residents only – limit 4)
◼ Used motor oil filters (Kern County residents only)
◼ Used clothing, shoes, and linens
◼ Surplus construction materials
◼ Paper shredding (limit 2 file size boxes)
◼ Batteries and other recyclable material

"America Recycles Day educates people about the importance of recycling to our economy and environmental well-being and helps to motivate occasional recyclers to become everyday recyclers," said Keep America Beautiful president and CEO Helen Lowman. "This national initiative also highlights how we can be more mindful about using or purchasing products made with recycled content and to do all we can to reduce contamination in the recycling stream."
