BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — As your checking some off your things to do on your back-to-school list, you may want to schedule an appointment for a vision exam.
Doctor Krystal Vanichsarn of Ace Eyecare says it's recommended that children between the ages of 3 to 5 receive an exam, rather than a screening before they begin school.
Then, one to every two years after that for another exam.
"It's strongly recommended that children get checked before they go to school to set them up for success. And so about 80 percent of what children are presented in school these days is presented visually so it's very important for children to have clear vision and it's oftentimes very difficult for them to know when they have vision issues."
And for your children with most of their classwork and homework that is completed on a computer, laptop, or tablet taking 20-second breaks about every 20 minutes will help keep their eyes healthy
