UPDATE (8/31 6:44 p.m.): 22-year-old Isaac Cervantes has been identified by a family member as the man BPD identified as a suspect in last night's shooting with police. Cervantes was originally reported as 21-years-old.

UPDATE (8/31 4:56 p.m.): According to the Bakersfield Police Department, Matthew Johnson has been with BPD since October 2014 and Joshua Deutinger has been with department since January 2013.
Both of the officers are still in stable condition at a local hospital.

Bakersfield police were called to a home for a peace disturbance just after 9:15 p.m. Wednesday night in South Bakersfield.
Officers were told that a man was armed with a gun inside the home on Pacheco Road near Kenny Street.
Upon arrival two police officers, identified as Matthew Johnson and Joshua Deutinger, were shot in the upper torso. They have since been taken to the hospital and listed in stable condition.
The suspect did die at the scene.
The identity of that person has not yet been released.
Both Johnson and Deutinger will be placed on routine administrative leave once released from the hospital.
