After four days of deliberation, the verdict came down for Bobbie Dale Rhynes. But his appearance became the major news.

Bruises were all over his face and he had difficulty standing up. He told his lawyer he was stabbed three times and jumped yesterday by 20-25 fellow inmates.

Due to concerns for his safety, 23ABC was not allowed to film in court.

As for the verdict, the jury found him not guilty of first degree murder and a mistrial for second degree.

Rhynes was facing these charges in connection to the murder of Carl Woolwine at an Alta Sierra Ski Resort in October.

Rhynes was arrested along with two other people for the murder.

"We're going to have to retry this case on second degree murder theory, but obviously relieved the jurors agreed that Bobbie clearly was not the shooter and that's why they voted not guilty on first degree murder," said Tim Blenner, Deputy Public Defender.

Wooolwine was found dead in a shallow grave from a gunshot wound.

The new trial for second degree murder charges will begin in July.
