A teacher at Sing Lum Elementary School is on administrative leave due to a medical emergency after Bakersfield Police responded to the school regarding a safety concern earlier this week, according to the Panama Buena-Vista School District.
Officers went to Sing Lum on Tuesday regarding a safety concern involving a a staff member and requested the school be placed on lockdown as a precaution until contact could be made with the involved staff member.
BPD said officers made contact with the involved staff member and determined the incident involved a medical emergency. Many concerned viewers reached out to 23ABC that a teacher was making shooting threats to the school, which Gerrie Kincaid with the school district confirmed is false.
Officers were able to determine the medical emergency did not involve any students or other staff members and the lockdown was lifted around 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
