After a short car chase Thursday evening, Bakersfield Police say they arrested a man for several charges including possession of a loaded gun. 

BPD say they tried to pull over a car in the 3800 block of K Street just after 5:45 p.m. Thursday. Instead of stopping, officers say the driver lead them on a short car chase.  During that time, the driver tried to get rid of a loaded handgun that was later recovered by officers. 

BPD has identified that driver as 21-year-old Francisco Rodriguez. He was arrested for evading, firearm and gang related charges.
