The California Highway Patrol has identified the victim in Monday night's crash near Bear Mountain Boulevard and South H Street.
52-year-old Fidencio Colmenares was driving a 1996 Plymouth Voyager eastbound on Highway 223 at a high speed when collided into the left side tires of a wide load Kenworth trailer being escorted by California Highway Patrol.
Arvin resident Colmenares continued east, out of control, and collided with a white Dodge Ram 4500, which was driven by 31-year-old Timothy Smith and traveling to the west.
Paramedics arrived and provided medical treatment to both Colmenares and Smith, but Colmenares was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:23 p.m. Smith was transported to Kern Medical Center for moderate injuries.
This collision is still under investigation.
