The Kern County Department of Public Health said that the Wal-Mart Supercenter on Rosedale Hwy was closed for hours on Saturday due to sewage problems.
Michelle Corson, an official with the Kern County Dept. of Public Health said that there was a blockage in the plumbing lines in one of the store's restrooms.
Corson added that Walmart took the absolute correct action to voluntarily close the store.
According to Corson, the sewage was coming up out of the floor grain in the restroom.
Viewers tipped the 23ABC newsroom of the closure before 1:00 p.m.
The health department was at the scene, cleaning and sanitizing the store.
There was also an environmental health team on scene to insure a safe environment.
The store was reopened after 3:10 p.m.
However, the McDonalds and Vision Center remain closed at this time.
