Officials pulled a woman's body from a canal near Central Bakersfield.
At about 4:30 p.m., officials located a witness who saw a body in the canal near the intersection of 20th and Oak streets distressed.
When rescuers pulled the woman's body out, they immediately started performing CPR, but said she was obviously dead.
The coroner will be sending out the ID of the woman once her next of kin have been notified.
