Mother could face charges in deadly WB178 crash

CHP officials said a mother of three could face vehicular manslaughter charges in a deadly crash that took place on Hwy 178 in Onyx this past Saturday.

CHP officials said on Thursday that they are recommending the charge but the report is not completed.

1-year-old ID'd in fatal crash in Onyx, Calif.

On Thursday, Officials said that Ryder Wayne Frazier of Lake Isabella was killed at about 12:06 p.m. along HWY 178 near the intersection of Canebrake Rd. and Pine Hollow Road in Onyx.

On Sunday, officials said that Christy Tucker was driving in her 1998 Mitsubishi Montero westbound on SR 178 at Canebrake Road. 

CHP officials said Tucker was traveling at approximately 50 mph and had to be pulled to the right shoulder to tell her 8-year-old daughter to use her seatbelt.

Officials added when Tucker looked back, she jerked the steering wheel to the left causing the car to overturn approximately four times, ejecting all unrestrained three children, all of which sustained major injuries.

Officials say alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The 8-year-old and 2-year-old were transported to Kern Medical. While the mother and Frazier child were taken to Antelope Valley Hospital where the baby died from his injuries.
