A fire at Meadows Field Airport caused $2m in damages Sunday morning.

Just before 8:30 AM, the Kern County Fire Department received a call for a Hangar Fire at Meadows Field Airport.

A reinforced structure response was started by dispatchers.

The first arriving crew encountered heavy smoke coming from a 4,000 square foot metal building. Fire crews deployed hose lines to the front of the hangar.

Firefighters had to force entry into the hangar to extinguish the fire and checked several other units for extension. The fire was controlled in approximately 25 minutes.

The fire caused approximately $2,000,000 in damage, destroying a recreational vehicle, boat and other property. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
