An attempted murder suspect is behind bars without bail after a pursuit with McFarland Police officers.
Officials said around 7:15 p.m. Friday an MPD officer was on patrol and made a routine traffic stop on a Chevrolet Silverado pickup for vehicle code violations.
The vehicle came to a stop near Frontage Road and West Perkins Avenue.
Several moments later, the man drove away.
The officer, a K-9 Unit, pursued the suspect.
The suspect entered Highway 99 northbound and traveled at a high rate of speed.
The suspect exited Pond Road and drove westbound to Stradley Avenue.
The vehicle then traveled northbound on Stradley Avenue for about two miles before driving into a private ranch property.
The suspect ultimately crashed the vehicle into a concrete wall.
Officers located the suspect inside the vehicle and he was taken into custody without incident. T
he suspect was identified as 25-year-old Earlimart resident Jesus Ramirez.
Ramirez was later transported to Kern Medical for injuries he sustained as a result of the collision.
Ramirez had an active arrest warrant for attempted murder.
Ramirez was later cleared and booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Central Receiving Facility for felony evading, driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, driving without a license, and for the outstanding felony attempted murder warrant.
