Kern County District Attorney Lisa Green announced Monday that because of her office’s relationship with people involved in the alleged misconduct of a state criminal database system at Kern High School District, the case will be investigated in Tulare County.
The district’s police chief Joseph Lopeteguy is being investigated for alleged illegal use of the California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS).
Lopeteguy was placed on administration leave in May, less than a year after he took office.
The Tulare County District Attorney’s Office will take over the investigation.
KHSD is working in cooperation with all agencies investigating the case.
