The Kern High School District board of trustees on Monday postponed its decision about whether it will allow staff to carry guns on campus.
During Monday's meeting, the Kern High School District police department gave a presentation outlining the options board members had.
One, to not allow concealed weapons on campus at all.
Or two, give the superintendent the power to decide who is allowed to carry a concealed weapon on a case-by-case basis.
The police department recommended the first option.
The meeting comes in response to a decision in the Fresno county town of Kingsburg, which allows staff members with concealed carry permits to bring guns to school.
The Kern High School District board ultimately asked the superintendent and law enforcement to do more research on the options available.
Those will be presented at the next board meeting on June 2 where they board is expected to make a decision.
