On September 19th, 2016, at about 12:23 pm, Kern County Sheriff’s deputies from the Taft Substation were dispatched to a report of a body located off of Highway 33, just north of Maricopa.

When deputies arrived they located the body of a deceased adult male lying in brush along a fence line. Due to the bodies’ state of decomposition, deputies were unable to determine if the body had sustained any type of injury or trauma.

Homicide detectives responded and assumed the investigation. The Coroner’s Office responded and took custody of the decedent. An autopsy will be scheduled to positively identify the decedent and determine cause and manner of death.
