The U.S Marshal service arrested two people on Thursday in connection to a homicide that took place in Florida.
Officials said their Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 20-year-old Douglas Mihal and his 16-year-old girlfriend.
Marshal Officials said on January, Mihal and his girlfriend allegedly murdered someone in Taylor County Florida.
Mihal and his girlfriend fled Florida and have been hiding from authorities since.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol assisted the U.S. Marshals in an attempt to arrest Mihal and his girlfriend.
The U.S. Marshals in Florida developed a lead that Mihal and his girlfriend might be staying in Kern County.
The PSWRFTF Bakersfield Division worked the lead and was able to identify Mihal and his girlfriend on the 900 block of Sterling Road.
Task force members set up surveillance and were able to identify Mihal exit a residence followed by his girlfriend.
Deputies then secured a perimeter and took Mihal and his girlfriend into custody without incident.
Mihal and his girlfriend were booked into the Kern County Jail and juvenile hall awaiting extradition back to Florida.
