KCSO: Teacher arrested for sex with a minor

Kern County Sheriff officials said they have arrested a Beardsley Junior High School teacher for unlawful sex with a minor.

KCSO officials said on December 15th, their detectives with the Sexual Assault and Abuse Investigations Unit (SAAIU) began an investigation into a report that a teacher at Beardsley Junior High School had been involved in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a former student.

During the investigation, KCSO detectives were able to identify three former male student victims.

As a result of the investigation, KCSO deputies arrested 34-year-old Vanessa Jean Hooker Friday for contacting a minor with intent to commit a sexual offense, attempted lewd/lascivious acts with a child 14/15 years of age, oral copulation with a person under 18 years of age, sexual penetration with a foreign object with a person under 18 years of age, and contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sexual offense.

Hooker was booked into the Sheriff’s Office Central Receiving Facility. Her bail has been set at $297,500.
